The band were formed in Wroclaw, Poland. The band members are mainly graduates of Wroclaw Universities, they met at Wawrzyny Academic Chaplaincy (Duszpasterstwo Akademickie Wawrzyny). There, influenced by the academic priest Stanislaw Orzechowski´s preachings and the converted famous Polish rock musicians they decided to set up a group who would play to praise God. The beginning for 40 Sons and 30 Grandsons Riding 70 Donkeys was winning first prize after playing their first concert at the Sacro Song Festival on the 4th June 1999 in Wroclaw.

The band describe their vocation as giving a service to God and his people. They play at Parish and Chaplaincy events, festivals and reviews across Poland, but they consciously direct their energies towards evangelizing ´difficult´ communities. They have spread God´s Word through their songs in Prisons, Addiction Treatment Centres, Orphanages, Young Offenders Facilities and to the Homeless. They want to go wherever God wants them to go, touching the lives of people who for whatever reason are indifferent to issues connected with God.

The band composes its own music to accompany the songs, using a variety of instruments: bass guitar, classic guitar, acoustic guitar, accordion, sopilki (Ukrainian folk flutes), domra, mandolin, djembe, snare drum, bombo, sabar and various percussion istruments.
